The EME 50 course prepares undergraduate students for the use of fabrication techniques. The course introduces various techniques with CNC Mills, Lathes, Band Saws, and more. After completion, students will have access to the EFL to work on their projects if needed. Below are the engineering drawings of a gyroscope that students fabricate from stock material.
Lecture/discussion—3 hours; laboratory—3 hours.
Prerequisite: C- or better in: Engineering 4 and Physics 9A. Restricted to Mechanical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering/Materials Science Engineering majors.
Modern manufacturing methods, safety, manufacturing instructions, computer-aided manufacturing and their role in the engineering design and development process.
